The IP (International Protection) protection rating is issued by the IEC (International Electrotechnical Commission). The IP protection grade is formed by two Arabic numerals. The first number represents the degree of protection against dust and foreign objects, and the second number indicates the degree of airtightness of the meter against moisture and water intrusion.

Group, among the wealth instruments, the highest protection grade is IP68, and IP54 belongs to a relatively low protection grade, that is, the larger the number, the higher the protection grade of the instrument.

The meaning of the first number

0 —— No protection.

1 —— Prevent the intrusion of solids larger than 50mm; prevent the human body (such as the palm of the hand) from entering the instrument due to accidents; guard against the intrusion of foreign objects of larger size (diameter greater than 50mm).

2 —— Guard against the intrusion of solids larger than 12mm; guard against the intrusion of foreign objects of medium size (12mm larger in diameter) against the whole machine inside the instrument with human fingers.

Three-guard against the intrusion of solids larger than 2.5mm; guard against the intrusion of things with a diameter or thickness greater than 2.5mm, wires or similar small objects and contact the whole machine inside the instrument.

4 —— Prevent the intrusion of solids larger than 1.0mm; prevent the intrusion of things with a diameter or thickness larger than 1.0mm, wires or similar small objects and contact the whole machine inside the instrument.

5 —— Fully guard against the intrusion of foreign objects, except for dust, but the intruding dust will not affect the abnormal operation of the instrument.

The meaning of the second number

0 —— No protection.

1-Prevent the intrusion of water droplets. Vertically dripping water droplets (such as melted water) will not greatly affect the meter.

2 —— It can still prevent the intrusion of water droplets when it is skewed by 15 degrees. When the meter is skewed from vertical to 15 degrees, the water droplets will not have a great influence on the meter.

Three-prevent the intrusion of spray water. Prevent rain, or prevent the angle between the vertical and the inclined being less than 60 degrees. The sprayed water enters the meter to form slack.

4-Prevent splash water intrusion. Prevent splashing water from all tendencies to enter the meter to form slack.

5-Prevent water jet intrusion. Prevent the water from the nozzles from entering the meter to form slack.

6-Guard against the intrusion of big waves. Beware of slack caused by the invasion of big waves (such as on the ship's splint).
7 —— Prevent water intrusion during flooding. The meter is immersed in the water for a certain time or the water pressure is within a certain specification as follows to ensure that no slack is formed due to water ingress.

8 —— Prevent water intrusion while floating. The instrument floats continuously under the specified water pressure, which can ensure that no slack is formed due to water ingress.
