17 important matters needing attention in the engineering application of electromagnetic flowmeter

1. The transmitter should be installed at a position where the measuring tube can be filled with liquid at any time to prevent the illusion that the pointer is not at the zero point due to the absence of liquid in the measuring tube. It is installed vertically to reduce errors caused by bubbles generated on the electrode when the liquid flows. If placed horizontally, the two electrodes of the flowmeter must be kept on the same level surface, in order to prevent sediment or the air on the top of the pipe from insulating it.2. If necessary, the tube can be vented, and the built-in empty tube detection circuit will stop the signal output of accumulation and flow.3. For the fluid flowing in the pipeline with anode protection, the following points should be followed when installing the electromagnetic flowmeter: in order to make the fluid well grounded, use a ground ring; when the sensor is connected to the pipeline, there must be insulation between the flanges An insulating sleeve should also be used on the pad and the screw.4. When the electromagnetic flowmeter is installed on a grounded metal pipe, the system potential balance is achieved through the grounding terminal on the electromagnetic flowmeter transmitter, that is, it is connected to the grounding terminal through a copper core wire with a cross-sectional area of not less than 6mm2; The flowmeter is installed on an ungrounded metal pipe. Both flanges are connected to the pipe flange by a copper core wire with a cross-sectional area of at least 6mm2 and grounded; connect the transmitter or sensor junction box to the ground terminal, Realize the system potential balance; when the electromagnetic flowmeter is installed on a plastic pipe or a pipe with an insulating lining, the system potential balance is achieved through an additional grounding ring, which is connected to the ground terminal through a copper core wire with a cross-sectional area of at least 6mm2.5. The electromagnetic flow transmitter should be installed indoors in a dry and ventilated place. Avoid installation in places where the ambient temperature is too high. It should not be subject to strong vibration. Try to avoid equipment with strong magnetic fields, such as large motors, transformers, etc., and avoid installation in In the case of corrosive gas, the installation location is convenient for maintenance, which is the environmental condition to ensure the normal operation of the transmitter.6. In order to ensure that the measuring tube of the electromagnetic flow transmitter is filled with the measured medium, the translator is installed vertically, and the flow direction is from bottom to top, especially for liquid-solid two-phase flow, it must be installed vertically. If the site only allows horizontal installation, you must ensure that the two electrodes are on the same horizontal plane.7. Valves and bypass should be installed at both ends of the electromagnetic flow transmitter.8. The several millivolt AC potential measured by the electrode of the electromagnetic flow transmitter is based on the potential of the liquid in the transmitter. In order to stabilize the liquid potential and keep the transmitter and the fluid at the same potential to ensure stable measurement, the transmitter housing and the metal pipe should have a good grounding, and the converter housing should also be grounded. The grounding resistance should not be greater than 10 Ohm, cannot be shared with the grounding wire of other electrical equipment. If it is not possible to ensure that the transmitter housing is in good contact with the metal pipe, use metal wires to connect them, and then reliably ground them.9. In order to avoid interfering signals, the signal between the transmitter and the converter must be transmitted with shielded wires. It is not allowed to put the signal cable and the power line in the same cable pipe in parallel. The length of the signal cable should generally not exceed 30m.10. The installation site of the converter should avoid strong AC and DC magnetic fields and vibration. The ambient temperature should be -20~50℃, and it should not contain corrosive gas, and the relative humidity should not be more than 80%.11. In order to ensure the normal operation of the electromagnetic flowmeter and reduce measurement errors, the front and back of the electromagnetic flowmeter should meet certain straight pipe requirements. According to the test standard requirements of JJG1033-2007 “Electromagnetic Flowmeter Verification Regulations”, usually the front straight pipe section should reach 10D, and the rear straight pipe section should be 5D.12. Installation location. The electromagnetic flowmeter can be installed vertically and horizontally, but it is recommended to install it vertically, and the measured fluid flows from bottom to top. It can also be installed horizontally, but the two electrodes must be on the same level. When installing horizontally, ensure that the measuring tube is filled with liquid at all times. When the main line is a vertical pipeline, under normal circumstances, the water flow is required to be bottom-up, and try not to be top-down. The latter is likely to cause relatively large flow fluctuations. In addition to the full pipe installation, this is also very important, followed by the distance between the front and rear straight pipes. Choose a place that is easy to maintain and move around. The flowmeter should be installed at the back of the pump, never on the suction side: the valve should be installed on the downstream side of the flow.13. Since the electromagnetic flowmeter measures a weak electric potential, all external interference must be eliminated to accurately measure, so a good grounding is a necessary condition to ensure the stable operation of the electromagnetic flowmeter. Usually grounding is achieved through the grounding connection between the grounding ring or the reference electrode in the sensor and the piping system.14. The installation location of the flowmeter should be far away from all magnetic sources (such as high-power motors, transformers, etc.).15. Like other flowmeters, electromagnetic flowmeters also have protection levels. Generally, the integrated protection level is IP65, and the split type is IP68 (for sensors). If the customer has requirements for the instrument installation environment, the installation location should be underground. For wells or other damp places, it is recommended that customers choose split type. In order to avoid damage to the instrument caused by the wrong selection. 16. The electromagnetic flowmeter can measure corrosive liquids, but the customer should provide other measuring medium properties correctly at the beginning of the order, so as to avoid errors in the selection of the electrode during the selection, resulting in the sensor being scrapped in the later use process, causing inconvenience and inconvenience to the customer. Economic loss.17. Although the reliability of the electromagnetic flowmeter is relatively good, it will not be damaged under normal circumstances, but due to its principle, the surface of the sensor electrode has been in contact with the liquid. After a long time, the surface of the electrode is easier to be contaminated. Therefore, in general, if the customer has the conditions to disassemble the electromagnetic flowmeter, it is recommended that the electrode be removed and cleaned once a year to a year and a half to ensure the measurement accuracy of the entire flowmeter. Any instrument requires “maintenance”, and electromagnetic flowmeters are no exception.
