Floating ball level gauge fault and its treatment

The float level gauge is mainly composed of five parts: the meter head, the process connection, the guide rod, the float, and the locking ring (as shown in the figure below). It is installed on the top of the container through a connecting flange. According to Archimedes’ principle, when the liquid level of the container changes, the float will also float up and down. Because the float is magnetic, the reed tube of the float level gauge is affected by the Magnetic attraction, so as to convert the corresponding liquid level position into an electrical signal, and then display the actual height of the liquid through the meter. The handling methods for three common faults are as follows:Fault one, the indication is not normalThe indication of the float level gauge is abnormal, which is a very common fault of the float level gauge. There are usually the following manifestations:Phenomenon 1. The floating ball level gauge in the normal pressure workshop has the largest indication Troubleshooting: The counterweight of the floating ball is found to be at the lowest point through inspection, indicating that the liquid level of the meter is high. The on-site glass plate and the instrument indication are not aligned, usually due to the false liquid level phenomenon caused by the falling of the instrument float. At this time, it can be dealt with by stopping the maintenance and replacing the floating ball.Phenomenon 2. The float level gauge in the aromatic tank area does not change with the liquid level in the container, and always indicates the maximum. Troubleshooting: Check whether the float ball falls off at this time, and reinstall it if it falls off.Phenomenon 3. The indication of the float level gauge is too low. Trouble shooting: The above failure phenomenon may be caused by the falling off of the floating ball, the fracture of the floating ball connecting rod, the damage of the floating ball conversion mechanism, the damage of the floating ball pointer or the meter head, etc. If the instrument conversion mechanism is pressed, the floating ball connecting rod rotates flexibly, and the pointer and meter head are unobstructed, the float connecting rod should be replaced at this time. If the fault still cannot be eliminated, the above reasons should be eliminated one by one.Phenomenon 4. The float level transmitter suddenly has no indication. Trouble shooting: If there is no signal when measuring the circuit voltage, the polarity of the primary component power supply is not reversed, and there is no current output in the current conversion part, it means that the meter head is damaged and the floating ball is dealt with. Replace the head of the level gauge.Fault two, interfered by magnetic fieldIf the floating ball liquid level gauge malfunctions, according to the analysis of the working principle of the floating ball liquid level gauge, it is mostly caused by the interference of the magnetic field. Because the floating ball and the guide rod of the float level gauge contain magnetic objects, if they are interfered by other magnetic fields in the application environment, it will affect the normal operation of the instrument, and even cause the appearance of demagnetization of the instrument parts.Troubleshooting: Please check whether there is a strong magnetic field around the instrument and the container in time, and confirm that there are no magnetic impurities in the measured liquid. If there is a magnetic field, please clear it in time to avoid the floating ball level gauge from being interfered by the magnetic field. abnormal.Fault three, the floating ball is stuckThe floating ball is stuck, usually because the measured liquid contains impurities and dirt. Over time, the guide rod will gradually become fouled. If the float is stuck and does not move, it will cause the meter to have no signal output.Troubleshooting: If the floating ball is stuck, the instrument personnel should check the status of the floating ball in time, check whether there is scale condensation on the surface of the guide rod, and clean it up as soon as possible. Especially for the liquid to be tested that contains impurities, the meter personnel should clean the meter guide regularly.
