The measuring channel of the electromagnetic flowmeter isa smooth straight pipe with a non-blocking flow detector. It is suitable forthe measurement of liquid-solid two-phase fluids containing solid particles orfibers, such as pulp, coal slurry, pulp, mud and sewage. Since the inducedvoltage signal is formed in the space full of the magnetic field and is theaverage on the surface of the pipe, the straight pipe section required for thesensor is shorter, and it is 5 times of the pipe diameter. The measurementaccuracy of the electromagnetic flowmeter is not affected by the change offluid density, viscosity, temperature, pressure and conductivity. The inducedvoltage signal of sensor has a linear relationship with the average flowvelocity, so the measurement accuracy is high. It does not produce the pressureloss caused by the detection flow, the resistance of the instrument is only thesame length of the pipeline along the resistance, energy-saving effect issignificant, and it is most suitable for the low resistance loss of largediameter water supply pipe.
The sensor part of electromagnetic flow meter only the liningand the electrode contact with the measured liquid, as long as the rationalchoice of electrodes and lining materials, it can realize corrosion and wearresistance. However, it also has some limitations when the use of electromagneticflowmeter, such as: cannot measure the gas, steam and more large bubbles ofliquid; cannot measure the conductivity of very low liquid, such as petroleumproducts and organic solvents. What’s more, due to the restrictions of liningmaterials and electrical insulation material, it cannot be used to measure thehigher temperature of the liquid.
Electromagnetic flowmeter is widely used in sewage,fluorine chemical, water industry and medicine, steel and other industries, it isa mature technology, easy to use and cost-effective flow meter.
