Glass plate level gauges are essential for the safe operation of boilers
In industrial boiler systems, liquid level monitoring is a crucial aspect of ensuring safe equipment operation. Glass plate level gauges, acting as the indispensable "eyes" of the boiler, safeguard its stable operation under harsh high-temperature and high-pressure conditions thanks to their unique performance advantages.

Superior high-temperature and high-pressure resistance is the primary consideration for glass plate level gauges used in boilers. Boiler steam drums typically withstand pressures of several megapascals or even tens of megapascals, with temperatures reaching hundreds of degrees Celsius. To address this, modern glass plate level gauges utilize high-strength, high-temperature-resistant aluminosilicate glass as the pressure-bearing element, lined with mica sheets. The body is forged from heat-resistant steel, exhibiting strong shock resistance, impact resistance, and corrosion resistance, enabling long-term stable operation at pressures ≤32MPa and temperatures ≤450℃.
Clear and intuitive dual-color display technology greatly enhances the convenience of liquid level observation. Based on the principle of optical refraction, the glass plate level gauge uses red and green filters to display green for the liquid phase and red for the gas phase, creating a striking contrast between the red for gas and the green for water. Even from a distance or in poorly lit environments, boiler operators can clearly monitor the water level inside the boiler. Some advanced products also utilize LED cold light source illumination, which not only provides pure light color but also boasts low energy consumption and a long lifespan.

A reliable safety protection mechanism provides the final line of defense for boiler operation. The upper and lower valves of the glass plate level gauge are typically designed with self-locking protection devices—when the glass plate is accidentally damaged, the internal safety steel ball automatically seals the channel under the pressure inside the container, effectively preventing the high-temperature medium from spraying out, preventing the accident from escalating, and ensuring the personal safety of on-site operators.
Furthermore, some glass plate level gauges also have a self-cleaning function, using the condensate formed by saturated steam to continuously flush the observation window, automatically removing dirt from the mica, thereby extending the maintenance cycle and service life.
